Mr. Gumbel called the meeting to order at 7:40pm.

Review of minutes from October 11, 2001. Mr. Gross moved to accept as written. Seconded by Mr. DeLong. Passed unanimously.

Mr. Gumbel welcomed a visitor to the committee meeting - town resident Greg Cappiello.

Mr. Gross handed out Volunteer Immunity forms for all members to sign and return to David Sullivan, Town Administrator.

Mr. Gross moved to start WTAC meetings at 7pm on the second Thursday of each month. Seconded by Mr. DeLong. Passed unanimously.

Discussed the internet connection at the Library and possibly sharing it with the town offices. Mr. Borcoche investigated hardware to do rate-control for even division of the line bandwidth. Mr. Borcoche will followup with additional cost information for the next meeting. Mr. DeLong has budgeted money for the coming year to have the town pay a portion of the monthly network line charge.

Discussed general town internet access. Adelphia plans cable modems in the summer of 2002. There is very limited area DSL available for Windham. Ms. Crisler mentioned this is an issue for businesses coming to Windham. Mr. Cappiello will investigate alternate providers for the next meeting.

Discussed how to manage the town website. We should look at the Chester, NH town website to see an example of an automated website. Mr. Gross suggested appointing a Webmaster and also having Mr. DeLong handle updates such as meeting minutes. The Webmaster would handle general organization as well as look-and-feel.

Mr. DeLong will put together a plan for switching our website to Choice One. This involves connecting the town systems to the library network and then moving the websites (town and library) to Choice One servers.

Mr. Gross described changes to the alarm systems for town buildings. They would be hooked to a control panel in the Police Dept. dispatch center using internal phone lines. Mr. DeLong and Mr. Gross to discuss this with Mr. Sullivan and Chief Moeckel. This would save the town the monthly security firm fees.

Mr. DeLong described a problem he is having with the new Unix server when using two printers. The committee offered various solutions to try.

The next WTAC meeting will be held at the SAU Building on January 10, 2002 and will start at 7:00pm.

Meeting adjourned at 9:20 pm.

These minutes are submitted in draft form and have not been approved by the Windham Technical Advisory Committee.
