Site Walk Observations and Notes:
Site walk was called to order at 6:00 pm Jenny’s Hill Road (off Searles Road). The attendees walked into the woods from the start location to the proposed Overton Road. It was observed that the area was heavily wooded with a stonewall abutting a pile of fill and the ground looked to be at a 3:1 slope.
Attendees proceeded through the woods to marker “PI 202 + 32” where a walking path was evident and the open space was abutting the Morrison Road. Walkers followed the path to a “hemlock grove area” down hill with the path dissecting a wetland area. The concern is to keep the trail intact with access across the open space following through to the wetlands via a bridge crossing with a head wall at each end approved by the Conservation Commission. In this area the flow of water is already channeled and was explained that there are several beaver dams holding backwater. Treatment swale for this area of wetlands will be the grass and all other treatment swales will be built prior to and drainage system be constructed in this area.
Walkers proceeded to marker “218”, the proposed intersection of Cardiff Road and Overton Road, and came to a narrow dirt roadway. At this point attendee turned around and retraced route back to the starting point on Jenny’s Hill Road.
The site walk ended 8:00 pm.
These minutes are submitted in draft form and have not been approved by the Planning Board.
Respectfully,
Lee Maloney, Secretary, Windham Planning Board
