HIGHWAY SAFETY MEETING

JANUARY 17, 2002

 

On January 17, 2002 , the Department Heads discussed the following request for highway safety improvements and made the following recommendations.

Attendance: David Sullivan, Chief Bruce Moeckel, Chief Steve Fruchtman,  Don Messier, DFC, Pat Yatsevich, Eric DeLong, John Barrett, Dave Poulson, and Al Turner.

PLANNING BOARD PLANS:

  • None Received

HIGHWAY SAFETY ISSUES:

Cardinal and Oriole Road – Request for STOP signs at intersection of streets

  • Request submitted by J. Donohue of Cardinal Road

  • Mr. Moeckel moved to table the request for two weeks in order for the Committee to review the intersection. Mr. Barrett seconded. Passed unanimously.

Roulston and Searles Road – Request to review site distance at intersection

  • Request submitted by C. Miller of Mockingbird Hill Road.

  • Mr. Fruchtman moved to table the request for two weeks in order for the Committee to review the intersection. Mr. DeLong seconded. Passed unanimously.

Mitchell Pond and Partridge Road – Request to lower speed limit to 25 MPH

  • Request submitted by D. Dufault

  • Mr. DeLong moved to table the request for two weeks in order for the Committee to review the statutes regarding traffic investigations. Mr. Poulson seconded. Passed unanimously.

Squire Armour Rd – Request for street light at intersection of Range Rd and signage on Range Road indicating street location

  • Request submitted by D. Goss of Squire Armour Road

  • Mr. Turner to table the request for the street light for two weeks in order for the Committee to review the area at night. Further to submit the signage request for Range road to the State as it is a State road. Mr. Moeckel seconded. Passed unanimously.

County Road – Request to reconsider previous denial of 30 MPH signage

  • Request submitted by D. Caron of County Road

  • Mr. Fruchtman moved to reconsider the request to install a 30 MPH speed limit sign on County Road based on new information submitted by the Police Department and applicant. Mr. Turner seconded. Passed unanimously.
