The Capital Crime of Witchcraft

What better time and date to explore the free for all, fraught with hysterics of Witchcraft, than on Halloween Night Tuesday, October 31st, 2017 at Searles School. Margo Burns, the great-granddaughter of Rebecca Nurse, explores an array of prosecutions in 17th-century New England, using facsimiles of primary source manuscripts from formal complaints to arrest warrants, and indictments of formal charges to death warrants. The program focuses on the Salem Witchcraft Trials of 1692 and 1693, when nineteen people were hanged and one crushed to death.

Please join the Windham Historic/Heritage Commission at 7pm at Searles School on Halloween Night. Costumes are optional.
